We will be creating a new church photo directory. Unlike previous directories, we will create this directory ourselves, using our church database software, which will enable us to issue updates more frequently.
A new church directory presents several opportunities:
- Update contact information. While we are always updating contact information as often as we learn of changes, this will provide a more comprehensive, proactive update. Every month we mail out this Messenger to our mailing list, and every week I email a church update. If we don’t have your contact info and you want to receive church communications, please contact me or our secretary Stephanie Keatts.
- Clarify who is part of our church. The directory will include whoever wants to be in it. I anticipate that some regular attenders will consider membership, some newcomers will decide that our church is their home, some members who have been missing will consider renewing their presence, some members who have left will realize that they can’t meaningfully remain a member of that which they don’t take part in, and some members will update us on their status.
- Facilitate relationships. The start to a relationship is a face and a name. The fact that we have new faces in our church is a positive development, and I’m always glad to hear, “I don’t know who that is,” but we don’t want to keep it that way. Assimilating newcomers into fellowship involves knowing them. In some cases, even people who have been members for years still don’t know each other’s names.
We will be taking pictures on Sundays during the month of May. We will be circulating signup sheet with appointment slots for your family. You can also sign up by calling the church office.
